HR
helps 2020 Election distractions in the workplace and employee
World
No one country could be a challenging
one for employers, managers and front-line workers alike. Four
years after an election cycle that brought unprecedented tension to the
workplace, 2020 Election Day has arrived with an extra layer of intensity
surrounding the political climate. Under these conditions, Research and
previous reporting tells us to expect distractions at work and potentially even
conflict among employees. The world is still figuring out how to survive amid
the coronavirus pandemic as unemployment remains high, many businesses are
struggling.
- More than a third of employees
(36%) responding to a recent Gartner survey said the topic of the
2020 U.S. presidential election has led them to avoid talking to or
working with a co-worker because of their political views. The results
reveal a need for HR leaders to help managers minimize the disruptive
effects of politics in the workplace,
the organization said in announcing the findings Feb. 18.
- Employees say political discussions at work
have increased in recent years. And because Gartner's
findings show that those discussions can lead employees to avoid
co-workers — potentially hurting productivity and creating conflict
— HR may need to step in.
The above closely reflects the arguments in David Ulrich’s highly
influential
Harvard Business Review article of 1998, ‘A new mandate for human resources’,
which has helped to shape human resources (HR) in the new century.
Recommendations were that:
execution.
executed, delivering
administrative efficiency to ensure that costs are reduced
while quality is
maintained.
their concerns to
senior managers and at the same time working to increase
employees’
contribution – ‘that is, employees’ commitment to the organisation
and their ability to
deliver results’.
Finally,
HR should become an ‘agent of continuous transformation’, shaping
processes and a culture that together improve an organisation’s capacity for chhange.
My
suggestion is recover above problem USA government
must apply proper Human Resources system .

Your suggestion says the US government must apply proper HR system..so they wanted to apply within the government departments?
ReplyDeleteTo implement the HRS in a private organization I believe it won’t be a prime responsibility of the government.
yes government departments to be re organize
DeleteIn a wide liberal country like USA which economy depends more on private sector must be having advance HR systems in their organization even in public sector. I guess the suggestion to be cross checked again as to is that HR could be the main reason to have such a conflict situations..
ReplyDeleteyes agree mr pasan
